Chelsea Epic Clearout – Five Blues Stars Who Could Be On Their Way In January

Which Blues stars are at risk of being sold in the next window?

Jose Mourinho’s excellent work in the transfer windows since he arrived has left him with one of the best Chelsea squads ever. But it’s not perfect, and the Portuguese manager knows that staying still is moving backwards in the modern game.

With plenty of talented youngsters coming through the ranks, there are players in the first team who will need to be moved on, but who are the most at risk in January?

5) Ramires

Jose Mourinho is a fan of the Brazilian, and his hard-running, tenacious style is something the Chelsea manager loves to have as an option on the bench. However Willian offers much the same thing but with more quality going forward. While Jose would like to keep the Brazilian until the summer, a big offer from Real Madrid or Serie A could definitely tempt Chelsea into a sale.

4) Mohamed Salah

The most obvious candidate for a departure. The Egyptian winger has been dreadful since arriving last winter, and Chelsea will certainly look to get rid of him in the summer, if not in January. Fortunately for the Blues they only paid around £11m for the winger, so they shouldn’t have too much trouble recouping the majority of their outlay. Basel are reportedly interested in getting their man back.

3) Andre Schurrle

The German winger has been inconsistent at best since arriving at Chelsea, and Mourinho looks to have finally run out of patience with the striker. With Marco Reus available for a very tempting €20m, Schurrle could find himself sold to fund a move for another German attacker.

2) Jon Obi Mikel

Much like Ramires, Jose Mourinho is a fan of Mikel, but won’t hesitate to sanction a deal that will prove profitable for the club in the long run. As he proved with Juan Mata last January, every player has their price, and with Mikel’s minutes now dramatically reduced by Nemanja Matic’s outstanding form, that price might not be too high.

1) Petr Cech

Cech is a legend at Stamford Bridge, and it will be very painful for fans to see him go. However, it is equally painful to see him stuck on the bench. The Czech goalkeeper is in the prime of his career, and should be playing at the very top level. Chelsea would rather not let him go to a Champions League rival, so a move to AC Milan makes sense.
