Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Bulgarian side Ludogorets on Wednesday stopped a four match losing streak for the Anfield side who welcome Stoke City on Saturday.
With a number of injuries to contend with and shakey form at best, Brendan Rodgers may shuffle his team selection again in a bid to get the Reds just their fifth league win this season.
The Potters will want to get back on track after a shock home defeat to Burnley last weekend and will be seeking revenge against a side they conceded five to at the Britannia Stadium last season.
GK: Simon Mignolet
Despite a blunder in mid-week, Mignolet looks set to keep his place as long as the unconvincing Brad Jones is the Reds only other choice between the sticks.
RB: Javi Manquillo
The young right back showed how solid he is defensively against Ludogorets, he’s plenty of potential and should start again for Liverpool at right back.
CB: Martin Skrtel
Culpable for the free kick which led to Crystal Palace’s third last week. But as the most experienced and fit defender on the books Skrtel will remain at the heart of the Reds defence as long as Mamadou Sakho is out injured.
CB: Dejan Lovren
The most contentious position to predict on the pitch. If Sakho is fit enough to start at the weekend, you’d expect him to partner Skrtel ahead of Lovren and Kolo Toure considering their fortunes recently.
Neither Toure or the Croat have performed to a high enough standard this season but you’d expect the former Southampton man would get the nod just for the sheer number of games he’s played with Skrtel in that they might understand each other more.
LB: Glen Johnson
He may have lost his man to allow Ludogorets in for a late equaliser on Wednesday but seems preferred to the more inexperienced Alberto Moreno, who came on as a substitute in Bulgaria, at left back by Brendan Rodgers.
CM: Steven Gerrard
The 34 year old will be hoping for a big performance after such strong criticism throughout the week about his new defensive midfield role.
CM: Jordan Henderson
Great run for Liverpool’s second agains the Bulgarians, telling Raheem Sterling exactly where to put the ball and meeting it with aplomb. Will be back in the team once again.
LM: Raheem Sterling
Has looked tired in recent matches but provided the assist for Henderson’s goal. Could do with a rest but as Liverpool’s most attacking player going forward Rodgers will have to be a brave men to keep him on the bench.
CAM: Phillipe Coutinho
Given a rest midweek, maybe with this fixture in mind but should replace Joe Allen in the Liverpool XI who was anonymous midweek.
RM: Adam Lallana
A stop start campaign for Lallana who hasn’t quite hit the highs he was expected to at Anfield. Just one goal in seven appearances but could be back after sitting out the Champions League tie.
ST: Rickie Lambert
Hot off scoring his first Premier League and Champions League goals for Liverpool in successive games, Lambert looks set to start once again with Sturridge and Balotelli out injured.
