Here is how CaughtOffside thinks Louis van Gaal’s team will lineup with injuries ravaging the Dutchman’s selection choices.

GK – David de Gea

The goalkeeper continues to be United’s best player and earned the Man of the Match award at the Emirates Stadium last Saturday.

CB – Chris Smalling

Did well against the Gunners and with Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo both injured the England international could cement his place in van Gaal’s team.

CB – Jonny Evans

After playing 64 minutes for the reserves in midweek there is every chance Evans will go straight into the starting XI with things bleak at the back currently.

CB – Tyler Blackett

Taking up the final centre-back spot in a 3-5-2 formation is Blackett, who due to having slightly more experience has been chosen ahead of fellow youngster Paddy McNair.

RWB – Antonio Valencia

Valencia did well in his wing-back role at the Emirates and with doubts remaining over Rafael’s fitness the Ecuador international should continue in the role.

CM – Michael Carrick

Since returning from injury Carrick has supplied some much needed calm to the midfield and despite Ander Herrera being a more attacking option we expect the 33-year-old to retain his place.

CM – Angel di Maria

With the Englishman sitting back di Maria will have more opportunities to break forward and add to his current league tally of three goals and six assists.

LWB – Ashley Young

Like Valencia this usual winger did well as a wing-back against Arsene Wenger’s men and with Daley Blind and Luke Shaw both out injured the 29-year-old should continue there.

CAM – Juan Mata

Has struggled to establish himself under van Gaal, but up against a struggling Hull side the Spaniard will have the chance to prove his talent as a No.10.

ST – Radamel Falcao

Since completing a summer loan move from AS Monaco the striker has struggled with injury, but should be fit for this game and could well start showing his prowess in front of goal.

ST – Wayne Rooney

The captain scored at the Emirates and Robin van Persie was a disaster, so we see Rooney continuing upfront whilst the Dutchman is dropped to the bench.
