CaughtOffside decided to find out.

Sunderland – Patrick van Aanholt – 20th

Bottom of the pile and getting relegated in our opinion is the Black Cats, with van Aanholt their standout performer despite failing to establish himself at all at Chelsea.

Burnley – Danny Ings – 19th

Has done well since coming back into the Clarets team, but Ings is probably never going to be more than a solid Premier League striker.

Leicester City – Leonardo Ulloa – 18th

Finally it’s the Foxes completing the trio of relegated sides with their club record signing Ulloa their best player despite failing to show any decent form for some time now.

West Bromwich Albion – Saido Berahino – 17th

Just escaping the drop is the Baggies, with the form of their impressive young forward Berahino just saving them, but it was a close call.

Hull City – Tom Huddlestone – 16th

Up next is the Tigers who despite signing an abundance of attacking talent this summer still rely on the solid capabilities of Huddlestone in the middle.

Aston Villa – Fabian Delph – 15th

Next up is Villa with Delph just edging Christian Benteke and Ron Vlaar to the position of the Birmingham side’s best player.

West Ham United – Winston Reid – 14th

The Hammers have been playing well above expectations in 2014/15 with the likes of Diafra Sakho and Stewart Downing greatly impressing, but we still give the place to Reid.

Newcastle United – Moussa Sissoko – 13th

It has been a season of inconsistency once again for the Magpies and despite being sent off in his last outing for the North East side the box-to-box talent of Sissoko puts him and his side in 13th.

QPR – Leroy Fer – 12th

Charlie Austin may have been bagging all the goals for the Hoops, but Fer is an established Netherlands international and is extremely versatile in midfield and takes Harry Redknapp’s men towards the top 10.

Crystal Palace – Mile Jedinak – 11th

Captain of the Eagles and a midfielder who was resolute in front of the back four last term and yet now seems to even be adding a more attacking edge to his game as well.

Stoke City – Asmir Begovic – 10th

The Potters creep into the top 10 courtesy of their goalkeeper who may not be having the best of seasons, but overall is probably too good for Stoke.

Everton – Leighton Baines – 9th

There are a few choices for the Toffees, with the likes of Seamus Coleman, James McCarthy and Romelu Lukaku unlucky not be named, but for us Baines remains the standout.

Swansea City – Wilfried Bony – 8th

Taking his Swans side towards the European places once more is a striker who has proven his worth since a £12m transfer in 2013 with bags of goals for the Welsh side.

Southampton – Morgan Schneiderlin – 7th

Many of their supposed top players may have left over the summer, but it’s little surprise the Saints are still doing so well when they have midfielders like this at their disposal.

Liverpool – Daniel Sturridge – 6th

Has rarely played for the Reds this term and that may indicate why Brendan Rodgers’ men are struggling so badly, because Sturridge really provides an edge in attack.

Tottenham Hotspur – Hugo Lloris – 5th

For us the standout Spurs performer is their ‘keeper and the France skipper, with Lloris getting Tottenham up to a surprisingly high fifth because of his talent.

Arsenal – Alexis Sanchez – 4th

Only joined the Gunners over the summer for £35m, but has already shown during his short time in English football that he is a world-class player and should get them into the Champions League once again.

Manchester United – Angel di Maria – 3rd

Another summer signing and a midfield ace who cost the Red Devils a British record £59.7m and although hasn’t completely justified that is well on the way to doing so.

Manchester City – Sergio Aguero – 2nd

Just edged into second place is this world-class striker who since joining City back in 2011 has been utterly prolific in front of goal and has propelled them to two league titles.

Chelsea – Eden Hazard – 1st

Could well win the title this campaign the way the Blues are playing and although Diego Costa, Thibaut Courtois and Cesc Fabregas are all brilliant Hazard takes the place for us.
