Pellegrini eyeing up Premier League hit-man.
Manchester City are reportedly ready to make a move for Swansea City striker and former Liverpool target Wilfried Bony this January, according to the Daily Star.
The Premier League champions could do with a new signing upfront to take the pressure off star player Sergio Aguero, who has been in top form this season while others around him have not reached their best.
The likes of Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic have been in and out of the starting lineup at the Etihad Stadium, and manager Manuel Pellegrini could see Bony as an upgrade in that position.
The Ivory Coast target man would complement Aguero’s game well, and has shown himself to be a top class centre-forward during his short time in the Premier League since arriving from Vitesse last summer.
Bony’s fine form attracted interest from Liverpool and other top clubs during the summer, and it may now be that he will become one of City’s top targets as they look to improve their form for the second half of the season.
The 25-year-old has the added bonus of not being cup-tied in the Champions League, so would be eligible to take part in the competition if City get through their group.
