Wayne Rooney has exceeded Louis van Gaal’s expectations

Van Gaal has admitted that he had heard less than positive things about Rooney before taking charge at the Theatre of Dreams over the summer.

However, the Dutchman has been convinced otherwise since arriving at the club and is glad he made the England international his captain.
