The 23-year-old is rumoured to be a target for the Gunners in the January transfer window, though there are also said to be a number of clubs keen to prize him away from Glasgow.

The Gunners were said to be close to making a move for him last summer, but no offer was made and the Dutchman remained at Parkhead.

And Celtic manager Ronny Deila has now warned any interested parties that they will have to pay big money to secure his prized asset.

“It will not be a surprise for me if there is interest in Van Dijk in January, but he will be very expensive,” said Deila.

“Van Dijk is a fantastic player who keeps on improving and I hope he stays with us.”
