Five Players Who Have Badly Flopped This Year, Including Arsenal And Liverpool ‘Stars’

Here are five players who have let their clubs down with their performances so far, including some of the best performers from last term.

5) Robin van Persie, Manchester United

The Dutchman has only scored four goals in twelve appearances for the Red Devils so far. This is pretty underwhelming when you think that he would have had around eight by now if he had been scoring at the same rate as he has in seasons past. A recent goal against Hull City might be sign of a turnaround though, which he will need if he wants to stay in the starting XI at Old Trafford.

4) Emmanuel Adebayor, Tottenham

The Tongo international is a perennial underperformer, and this year has been no different. Capable of runs of great form, he hasn’t been able to keep them going on a permanent basis. However, the 30-year-old’s contract is up at the end of the season, so maybe he’ll pick it up before then as he always seems to do.

3) Yaya Toure, Manchester City

Since kicking up a fuss in the summer over his forgotten birthday, the Ivorian has underperformed for the Citizens. His below par showings have been a major part of why the Sky Blues have been unable to keep up with Chelsea at the top of the league.

2) Aaron Ramsey, Arsenal

The Welsh midfielder hasn’t got anywhere near to where how he was performing last season. Although not making match-losing mistakes, he isn’t adding enough to warrant his continued inclusion in the side either. His poor play has been a part of why the Gunners have been so reliant on Alexis Sanchez this campaign.

1) Dejan Lovren, Liverpool

The Serbian hasn’t just underperformed this season, he has been absolutely woeful for the Reds. He hasn’t been anywhere near the same player who was playing for Southampton last time around. Manager Brendan Rodgers might be hoping that he was able to get his money back.
