Leicester City 1-3 Liverpool – Second-half goals from Steven Gerrard and Jordan Henderson proved enough to see off their brave hosts, who took the lead when Simon Mignolet deflected the ball into his own goal.

Things might have been worse for the Reds, had Mignolet’s poor pass, intercepted by Esteban Cambiasso, been taken advantage of. As it was, Adam Lallana quickly had Liverpool level, and Wes Morgan’s red card at 2-1 all but ended the Foxes’ chances.

Read the full Liverpool ratings below:

GK) Simon Mignolet – 5

Was lucky not to gift the opening goal of the game to Esteban Cambiasso, and perhaps karma returned to haunt him with an unfortunate own goal a few minutes later.

RB) Javier Manquillo – 5

Replaced at half-time as Liverpool introduced Alberto Moreno and returned Glen Johnson to right-back. The youngster struggled as Leicester attempted to lead from the front with an attacking line-up.

LB) Glen Johnson – 7

An encouraging performance from Liverpool’s under-fire full-back, who adjusted well to the change of sides mid-way through the game, and looked decent throughout.

CB) Martin Skrtel – 7

A rock at the heart of the Liverpool defence, throwing himself in the way of everything and making several crucial interventions – excellent effort from the Slovakian.

CB) Kolo Toure – 6

Another decent performance from the Ivorian, who continued to establish himself alongside Skrtel – things don’t look good for Dejan Lovren, what next for the Croatian?

DM) Lucas – 7

Liverpool have won seven of the ten games in which he’s feature this season, and only two of the eleven games in which he hasn’t – that says it all. His presence allowed Gerrard to roam forward.

CM) Jordan Henderson – 6

Completed the night with the third goal, and put in another decent shift in midfield as he continues to improve this season after a difficult start.

CM) Steven Gerrard – 9

Scored one, made another, leading the team from the front and fully proving why he deserves his spot in the team. An excellent performance that proved his worth.

RW) Raheem Sterling – 6

Targeted by the Leicester defenders and given a rough night, but put in an excellent back heel to set up Henderson’s late goal.

LW) Adam Lallana – 7

Scored Liverpool’s crucial equaliser, and once again put in an encouraging performance. The former Southampton man surely needs to be starting games in the near future.

ST) Rickie Lambert – 6

Led the line again, and forced Wes Morgan’s mistake that led to the red card. A decent target for the Liverpool players, and has shown why he was signed in the summer.

Manager: Brendan Rodgers – 7

Will have been sweating after his team fell behind, but made the right decisions with his team, picking Gerrard and Lallana, and got the result he was after.

Subs:

1) Alberto Moreno – 6 – Decent performance considering his lack of match action in recent weeks

2) Joe Allen – 6 – Added security and calmness to the midfield as the Reds protected their lead

3) Dejan Lovren – Came on for the final moments as Liverpool saw out the game
