Here are CaughtOffside’s top 11 English strikers in football:

11) Jay Rodriguez – Southampton

Set to make a return early next year following a devastating injury last season, only time will tell whether the youngster is still the same player he was.

Having made his England debut late last year, he looked capable of kicking on and becoming a star of the future; hopefully he can recover from his ACL injury and carry on from where he left off.

10) Andy Carroll – West Ham

Although Carroll has been plagued by injuries, utilised properly he can be a powerful tool for any Premier League side.

Dominant in the air and excellent at brining his teammates into the game with his hold-up play, a real old school target man.

9) Theo Walcott – Arsenal

The pacey forward may not be an out and out striker, but that is the position he hopes to play in the future.

His finishing has drastically improved, and before a nasty injury he was beginning to show promise as a striker when given the chance by Arsene Wenger.

8) Rickie Lambert – Liverpool

Lambert may not have made a fantastic start to the new campaign, but he certainly deserved his England call up after performing fantastically for Southampton.

He may be the wrong side of 30, but he is still capable of competing at the highest level.

7) Harry Kane – Tottenham

Harry Kane has finally broken into the Tottenham team, after being left out in the cold for far too long.

He may not be the best striker around, but when compared to a misfiring Roberto Soldado and an uninterested Emmanuel Adebayor he comes out looking like Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 21-year-old has been fantastic when given a chance this season, and thoroughly deserves his place in the team.

6) Danny Ings – Burnley

He may have started the season slowly, but Danny Ings is now starting to hit his stride in the Premier League.

The 22-year-old seemed to be missing his Championship strike partner Sam Vokes, but with four goals in quick succession he looks to be finding his feet.

5) Saido Berahino – West Bromwich Albion

The youngster has been a revelation over the last two seasons, often dragging West Brom over the line when necessary.

Close to getting his first England call up, Berahino has also been heavily linked with a big money move away.

4) Charlie Austin – Queens Park Rangers

Austin has been vital for QPR since their return to the Premier League, with the 25-year-old scoring freely and winning his side points single-handedly.

If QPR are to have any hope of staying up this season they have to keep hold of Charlie Austin and keep him firing.

3) Daniel Sturridge – Liverpool

After a fantastic last season saw him finish as Liverpool’s second highest scorer behind Luis Suarez, Sturridge has struggled with injuries in the new campaign.

The club were relying on him to help replace the goals they lost when Suarez made the switch the Barcelona, but consistent injuries have seen him out of the side for months.

He is still a player of undeniable quality however, and is capable of rescuing the Merseyside club’s season if he can regain his fitness.

2) Danny Welbeck – Arsenal

After his £16m move from Manchester United this summer he has really hit the ground running.

His form for England has been exceptional, and although he has struggled for goals at times with Arsenal, he looks to be settling in well at the Emirates.

1) Wayne Rooney – Manchester United

The Man United man certainly splits opinions when it comes to England.

He has been unable to reproduce his club form on the international stage, yet has still managed to be one of the countries standout players.

Rooney will no doubt go down as one of England’s all time great strikers, although his legend status would certainly be helped by a solid performance at a major tournament.
