January double-swoop for Edinson Cavani and Marco Reus

Manchester United are set for a January spending spree with the Metro reporting the club is lining up bids for Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani and Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus.

The two deals would cost in the region of £70 million with Cavani reportedly keen on a move to Old Trafford after becoming ostracised by Zlatan Ibrahimovic at PSG.

Vidal rules out any United move

United’s protracted move for Juventus star Arturo Vidal looks to have finally fizzled out with the Mirror reporting that the midfielder has said he will not be leaving Italy.

The report sites Chilean media who quote Vidal as saying: “There are always rumours, but I’m feeling relaxed. I only think about Juventus.”

Mata wanted by Spanish side Sevilla

Hot off his goal scoring exploits in midweek, United’s £37.1 million signing is the target for a January move to Sevilla.

The Daily Mirror report that Sevilla are confident of a deal as any money United recoup from Mata could be used to capture future targets. However, United are said to want to hold on to the 26 year old.

United could return for Strootman if they sell Mata

And it seems United could be convinced to sell the Spaniard if it means they could finally snatch up long term target Kevin Strootman.

The Manchester Evening News report that the Red Devils would look to Strootman as a replacement if Mata is on the way out.

Louis van Gaal’s biographer Hugo Borst, however, believes a deal for the AS Roma midfielder will happen next summer rather than January.
