GK – David de Gea, Manchester United

With all the injury troubles at Old Trafford manager Louis van Gaal must be glad the goalkeeper has stayed fit as de Gea has played a huge part in United’s four successive victories to date.

RB – Pablo Zabaleta, Manchester City

In a modern era where full-backs are expected to attack first and defend as an afterthought it’s refreshing to see a right-back who can do both and Zabaleta continues to keep Bacary Sagna out of the team.

CB – Chris Smalling, Manchester United

Another Red Devils star now and a defender who has been much maligned in the past, but with things shaky at the back for van Gaal’s side the Englishman has been a consistently positive presence.

CB – Fabricio Coloccini, Newcastle United

The contrasting nature of Newcastle continues as after a dreadful start to the campaign they played extremely well in November and a key part of their success was their resolute defence.

LB – Cesar Azpilicueta, Chelsea

Sky Sports pundits Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville were moved to dub this Spaniard ‘the best defender in England’ and they may have a point as Azpilicueta continues to impress at left-back.

CM – Yaya Toure, Manchester City

Back to City now and after a poor start to the season this midfielder has found his form once more and has been instrumental for the Citizens – even finding his scoring boots again.

CM – Cesc Fabregas, Chelsea

The Blues continue to dominate and are let to lose a game this term, with Fabregas’ impressive tally of assists continuing to mount as Jose Mourinho’s men seemingly march towards the title.

RAM – Alexis Sanchez, Arsenal

In a very attacking team we had to include this Chile international, who currently basically seems like the Gunners team as he continues to drag them through difficult situations with his goals.

LAM – Wayne Rooney, Manchester United

United really do seem to finally be realising their potential under van Gaal and the form of their captain has played a key part – particularly in the 2-1 victory at the Emirates Stadium.

ST – Sergio Aguero, Manchester City

Stopping this Argentine appears to be impossible as Aguero just keeps on scoring for the Citizens and if the Argentine stays fit there’s every reason to believe Manuel Pellegrini will win more silverware.

ST – Charlie Austin, QPR

Completing the XI is a striker who has been in impressive form for the Hoops as they battle to survive upon their return to the top flight and Austin’s goals will be vital to avoiding relegation.
