Liverpool’s Dream January Window: Three In, Three Out For The Underperforming Reds With Two New Signings Sold Already

What would an ideal January window be for Brendan Rodgers and Liverpool?

Liverpool have endured a difficult 2014/15 season so far with, both a lack of goals and slapstick defending having defined Brendan Rodgers’ side so far this season as they have tumbled into mid-table in the Premier League and their Champions League progress still hangs in the balance.

January could well be huge for the Reds as they look to right the wrongs of a dismal summer window – if we were Brendan Rodgers, these six moves would be what we were targeting:

In) Alexandre Lacazette (Lyon)

With Luis Suarez sold and Daniel Sturridge injured, a lack of both pace and goals in attack has been one of the obvious issues with Liverpool this season. Lacazette, who is having a fine season for Lyon in Ligue 1, would fit the bill on both counts.

Out) Dejan Lovren

Sometimes it is time to admit that you’ve made a mistake – as Liverpool need to do as soon as possible with centre back Dejan Lovren. He isn’t good enough and it is time to cut their losses and bring in someone else to compliment Martin Skrtel and Mamadou Sakho.

In) Morgan Schneiderlin (Southampton)

With Steven Gerrard and Lucas Leiva both on the decline, a deep-lying midfielder who can both break up play and provide something moving forwards is a player that Rodgers really needs to be on the look out for. He need look no further than Southampton’s exceptional Frenchman Morgan Schneiderlin.

Out) Lucas Leiva

Brazilian midfielder Lucas Leiva is a long way past his best and on high wages – time for Liverpool to allow him to move on with his career.

In) Asmir Begovic (Stoke City)

Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet is not having a good enough season for the Reds and his errors and indecision are only adding to the disaster area that is their defence. Stoke goalkeeper Asmir Begovic is a top player and can come in to change all of that.

Out) Mario Balotelli

Signing Balotelli was a mistake. These things happen – time for Liverpool to move on.
