How Liverpool can be expected to line up against the Black Cats on Saturday.
Following a string of poor results, the Reds finally turned things around last weekend with a late 1-0 victory over Stoke City. However, though they will want to build on that result they also have an important Champions League game to worry about next week, too. This is how we think Brendan Rodgers will cope.

With no competition, the hapless Belgian will be given the go ahead.
LB: Alberto Moreno
The Spaniard is Liverpool’s best choice in the position right now and will give an attacking edge down the flank.
CB: Kolo Toure
The veteran stopper will come in for Mamadou Sakho to give the Frenchman a short respite.
CB: Martin Skrtel
At this stage anyone is better than Dejan Lovren.
RB: Javier Manquillo
Despite his late winner last week, Johnson will find himself on the bench in preparation for the upcoming European clash.
CM: Joe Allen
The Welshman will sit deeper than his colleagues with the intention of spraying the ball around like a quarterback.
CM: Emre Can
Still yet to establish himself, Can will play a little wider on the left.
CM: Jordan Henderson
A role he’s fulfilled before, Henderson will try to provide service for his forwards from further out on the right.
RAM: Philippe Coutinho
The Brazilian will look to cause trouble in wider role as Rodgers looks to abandon his diamond formation.
LAM: Adam Lallana
Lallana has begun to hit form at the right time, but will be used as more of a creator than a goalscorer despite his advanced position.
ST: Rickie Lambert
The first of Liverpool’s strikers to break his duck, the double double will hope to throve on the service he receives from those around him.
