Here are the 10 worst offenders…

10) Nile Ranger

Now at Blackpool in the Championship, the 23-year-old once had the potential to become a star at Newcastle United. However, despite scoring tons of goals in the youth teams, once he made to the seniors his personality caught up with him.

He has been arrested several times for assault and drunken behaviour, even posting a picture of himself with a gun at one point. A similar situation plagued him at Swindon, and now he is at a troubled Blackpool side waiting for the inevitable to happen again.

9) Savio Nsereko

The winger was signed for £9 million by West Ham United in 2009, but left shortly after to Fiorentina due to “personal problems.” However, these problems followed him to Italy, and after six loan periods he left in 2013.

He was kicked out due to a breach of contract, and there are rumours that he faked his own kidnapping in Thailand after moving to a German third division side. The 25-year-old is currently a free agent after being released by a Kazakhstan Premier League team.

8) Royston Drenthe

The left sided player has played for Real Madrid and the Netherlands, so he has had some highs in his career. However, he could have been so much better than he has become if he didn’t have the tendency to fall out with everyone he has ever worked with.

After threatening to take Feyenoord to court if they didn’t sell him to Madrid and storming out of training grounds at both the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and Everton, he is now on loan at Sheffield Wednesday from Reading. Not as glamourous as it once was.

7) Andy van der Meyde

The Dutchman had the world at his feet while impressing scouts at Ajax, but troubled spells at both Inter Milan and Everton followed once he left the club. He always showed his talent, but rumours of alcohol problems followed him and he eventually retired at the age of 31.

6) Jermaine Pennant

When the winger signed for Arsenal, much was expected of him. However, many loan deals, arrests and even once claiming to be Ashley Cole when caught driving on the wrong side of the road, meant that he never had a chance at the Gunners.

He did manage to turn it around for a while, earning a move to Liverpool via Birmingham City. Then his attitude hit again, rarely training while at Real Zaragoza before coming back to England with Stoke City. It didn’t last long there either, and is now playing in the Indian Premier League.

5) Hatem Ben Arfa

The Frenchman undoubtedly has talent, but has fallen out with both the Marseille and Newcastle United hierarchies already. He has continued this trend at Hull City, where he has seemingly completely given up on trying top play at all.

4) Adel Taarabt

The Moroccan wowed with his performances for QPR in the Championship, but has since fallen out with Harry Redknapp and is yet to play this campaign. He did manage a relatively successful period with AC Milan last season though.

3) Adrian Mutu

The Romanian blew his chance at Chelsea after a failed drugs test breached his contract. He did have a successful time at Fiorentina in his post England career, but never hit the heights that he could have had he stayed at the London club.

2) Nicklas Bendtner

The Dane has a history of ridiculous stories following him around. This has led to him never fulfilling the potential that he displayed when first playing at Arsenal. Now at Wolfsburg, he is starting to turn his career around.

1) Mario Balotelli

The striker has frustrated fans at Inter Milan, AC Milan, Manchester City, and Liverpool so far. Letting off fireworks in his bathroom, claiming £5,000 is pocket change, and throwing darts at youth players are just some of the incidents that have followed him around.
