Here are the 10 players from the English top tier that CaughtOffside doesn’t think are getting the praise they deserve.

10. Martin Kelly, Crystal Palace

Joined the Eagles from Liverpool over the summer having failed to ever truly establish himself at Anfield, but has been a stalwart in the Palace team as they have enjoyed a surprisingly solid start under Neil Warnock.

9. Jason Shackell, Burnley

Things started very badly for the Clarets following their promotion from the Championship, but Sean Dyche has gotten his players operating better in recent times and their relative tightness at the back is thanks largely to the captain.

8. Curtis Davies, Hull City

Despite being in fine form for the Tigers during his first season at the KC Stadium in 2013/14 and that continuing this term the 29-year-old still perhaps fails to get the credit he deserves.

7. Carl Jenkinson, West Ham United

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is probably ruing the day he allowed this right-back to leave for the Hammers on-loan after the injury crisis his team has since suffered and the fact Jenkinson has been brilliant for the East Londoners.

6. Victor Wanyama, Southampton

New signings Graziano Pelle and Dusan Tadic have been grabbing the headlines further up the pitch, whilst Fraser Forster and Morgan Schneiderlin have also been widely praised, but this midfielder somehow seems to go under the radar.

5. Rob Green, QPR

Considered an average goalkeeper susceptible to the occasional blunder, Green has actually been one of the key reasons the Hoops are picking up their form, with Charlie Austin’s goals helping at the other end.

4. Steven N’Zonzi, Stoke City

The midfielder is among an exclusive club to have played every single league minute this campaign and in a new look Stoke side under Mark Hughes, N’Zonzi does sterling work in the middle.

3. Gareth Barry, Everton

Impressed whilst on-loan from Manchester City last season and has been sharp again this time around, with Toffees manager Roberto Martinez seemingly one of the few to appreciate just how important the veteran is to his side.

2. Laurent Koscielny, Arsenal

Admittedly it’s widely believed that Koscielny is a top-class centre-back, but just how important the Frenchman is to the Gunners has been proven since his absence at the back this season with Per Mertesacker looking extremely average without his partner.

1. Nemanja Matic, Chelsea

It’s a similar story with Matic as although he’s considered a top player, there is every reason it could be argued the Serbian is the Blues’ best player as shown by the Newcastle United defeat on Saturday.
