Five Changes Arsenal Should Make Ahead Of Galatasaray Clash: Alexis Sanchez And Aaron Ramsey Out, But Danny Welbeck To Return

Five changes Arsene Wenger should make ahead of Champions League tie this week.

Arsenal are through to the next round of the Champions League. That much is a given. And though there is a slim chance of them topping the group, the likelihood of Borussia Dortmund taking care of their own business is greater. With that in mind Wenger should look to make a few changes in order to keep his key players fresh to ensure that nothing like this past weekend’s result against Stoke ever happens again.

5. Joel Campbell for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

What else does Campbell have to do to get a game? This game would be ideal for the Costa Rican to come into as he is looking to impress both Arsene Wenger as well as a host of prospective managers from around Europe.

4. Danny Welbeck for Olivier Giroud

Giroud played poorly against Stoke, and Wenger needs to be careful over relying on him too much as he continues to work his way back to full fitness. Furthermore, Welbeck slayed Galatasaray earlier this season with a hat-trick and will want to do the same again to keep himself ahead of the Frenchman.

3. Mathieu Debuchy for Hector Bellerin

Centre-back Laurent Koscielny is in line for a well earned rest this week after looking jaded at the weekend. That will mean that Calum Chambers will likely have to shift over to partner Per Mertesacker in the middle. That will free Debuchy up to resume duties on the flank and help the Gunners learn to cope without Koscielny.

2. Tomas Rosicky for Aaron Ramsey

Despite Wenger handing the Czech veteran a new deal over the summer he has barely featured in the side this season and unless there is something going on behind the scenes it is hard to imagine why he hasn’t played more. He has a number of laudable qualities that would make him a good bet for a starting spot, and his experience would certainly come in handy.

1. Lukas Podolski for Alexis Sanchez

In the wake of the news about Jack Wilshere’s latest injury setback it’s clear that Arsenal’s best players need protecting at all costs. Sanchez has no business playing in this game, especially when qualification is already secured and Lukas Podolski is dying to get on the pitch himself.
