Raiola spoke with City on Friday and according to the Italian journalist things went well between the two parties and the chances of the Citizens signing Pogba have greatly increased.

Juve will not be pressured into selling the 21-year-old having only recently tied the France international to a new contract which puts the youngster among the top five biggest earners in Serie A.

The reigning Premier League champions will of course be able to trump this, but not until they have paid the £55m asking price the Turin side have placed on their prized asset.

It’s unlikely that the deal will be completed in the January transfer window, but Raiola has already started negotiations with Pogba and the Frenchman’s current club.

Central midfield is thought to be an area that needs improvement for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, with Yaya Toure dropping in form and veteran Frank Lampard only on-loan from New York City FC.

Despite his age Pogba already has bags of experience for both club and country and knows England well having come through the ranks across the city at Manchester United before leaving for Italy in 2012.
