Top Five Worst Brendan Rodgers Liverpool Signings: £73m Worth of Mistakes Made by Anfield Boss

The failures of the summer have led many to question the Northern Irishman’s ability in the transfer market, here are his five worse signings since taking over at Liverpool in the June 2012.

Mario Balotelli £16m

A gamble that most certainly has not paid off.

The 24 year old hasn’t scored a single Premier League goal in nine appearances and his skulking displays indicate a player who doesn’t appear to have his heart in it at present. Brendan would do well to sell as soon as possible.

Mamadou Sakho £18m

Frenchman has come nowhere near justifying the fee paid for his services.

Sakho has started just two Premier League fixtures this season, Liverpool lost both….

Iago Aspas £7.2m

Spaniard had one good season and that was enough for Brendan Rodgers to make his move. The forward looked out of his depth since moving to Anfield and is unlikely to feature again. Currently on loan at Sevilla.

14 Premier League appearances…zero goals…

Dejan Lovren £20m

Croatian defender has looked inept since his big money move from Southampton to Liverpool and is a shadow of the player who was a commanding presence in the Saints back-line last term.

Lovren may still prove to be a decent addition though as yet he has done little to suggest a dramatic upturn in form is on the horizon.

Fabio Borini £10.5m

A player Rodgers knew well prior to signing him for Liverpool, paid a big sum but has seemingly little faith in the Italian who has on the whole tried manfully to prove himself.
