Arsenal News And Rumour Roundup: £30m Ligue 1 Star And £15m Italy International Offered To The Gunners And Club Legend Heading To Ajax

Tuesday’s biggest stories for the Gunners.

Super agent Jorge Mendes touting his client Joao Moutinho to Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United

Portugal international Moutinho could be the latest high profile star to move to Premier League as Mendes tries to broker a January deal, according to the Daily Express.

The midfielder has been left disillusioned at current club AS Monaco having watched both Radamel Falcao and James Rodriguez leave the Stade Louis II over the summer.

It’s thought that Moutinho would set any interested party back around £30m.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain admits he needs to start scoring more goals

Despite having been in decent form for club and country in recent times the midfielder says he realise he needs to be finding the net more frequently.

Since first arriving at the Emirates Stadium from Southampton back in 2011 Oxlade-Chamberlain has scored just 11 times in 104 appearances.

“I think there’s definitely more to come from me on that front though – I won’t hide from that – [I need more] goals and assists,” the 21-year-old told Sky Sports.

Club legend Sol Campbell set to start coaching career at Ajax

The former England international has almost completed his UEFA coaching qualifications and has flown to the Netherlands to meet with the Dutch champions.

Jaap Stam recently left the Amsterdam ArenA after failing to complete his own badges and Campbell is considering joining old teammates Dennis Bergkamp and Marc Overmars as a coach.

“I have gone to Ajax to get an impression about the way they work. I spoke with Dennis to come here to Amsterdam. I am also going to have talks with Marc Overmars, who is technical director here, and with Edwin van der Sar, who is commercial director,” the 40-year-old was quoted by the Mirror.

Arsene Wenger regrets Borussia Dortmund defeat after Galatasaray thrashing

For the second time in the Champions League group stage the Gunners beat Gala 4-1 on Tuesday night and qualified behind Dortmund due to an inferior goal difference.

Wenger has now admitted that he regrets losing to the Bundesliga club at the Signal Iduna Park because a different result could have seen his side finish top.

“We had two favourites who responded to being favourites. We have regrets about our game in Dortmund. At home, we did the job well. Overall, we won four games and had one draw but that point against Anderlecht at home we can regret,” the Frenchman told Sky Sports.

North Londoners offered AS Roma striker Mattia Destro for £15m

The 23-year-old has fallen out of favour at the Stadio Olimpico this season and manager Rudi Garcia has deemed the forward surplus to requirements, according to the Metro.

Destro has scored four Serie A goals in 13 appearances this term, but there is every chance Wenger will turn down the opportunity to sign the Italy international.

That is because the 65-year-old already has Olivier Giroud, Yaya Sanogo and Danny Welbeck already at the Emirates.
