Robin van Persie sends warning message ahead of Manchester United clash

The big game of the upcoming Premier League weekend is the Red Devils’ hosting of their great rivals at Old Trafford on Sunday.

United have won their last five league matches and van Persie is in good form after scoring a brace against Southampton on Monday.

“I’ve been feeling very well over the last couple of weeks. The next game is Liverpool, so we’re looking forward to that. We are really happy that we are on the way up now. We have to keep the momentum going,” the striker was quoted by the Daily Express.

Rodgers admits his side were not good enough in the Champions League

The European dream came to an end on Tuesday night as a 1-1 draw with FC Basel at Anfield was not enough for the Reds to progress to the Last-16.

Over six group matches on their return to the competition the Merseyside club managed just one win over Bulgarian minnows Ludogorets and Rodgers was not happy with their performances.

“Over the course of the games we weren’t good enough to collect enough points and we went out,” the Northern Irishman told BBC Sport.

Steven Gerrard says failings were more than just the Basel loss

The captain has not pulled any punches on his assessment of his side’s showing in the competition and says the Basel defeat was just the tip of the iceberg.

Gerrard has pointed to other poor results during the tournament as the reason why his team crashed out at the first stage.

“We haven’t gone out of the competition because of our performance [on Tuesday]. We’ve gone out because away at Basel we weren’t good enough and in our last game [Ludogorets away] we conceded a stupid goal towards injury time,” the 34-year-old told the club’s website.

Daniel Sturridge denies partying with rapper Drake

The striker hasn’t played for the Merseysiders since late August after suffering an injury whilst on international duty with England and is currently in Los Angeles undergoing rehabilitation.

However, whilst in LA reports emerged that Sturridge was partying with Canadian music star Drake, but the 25-year-old has taken to Twitter to deny the allegations.
