Red Devils legend to return

Manchester United could re-sign Nemanja Vidic in the January transfer window, reports the Daily Star.

The Serbian has struggled since moving to Inter Milan in the summer, and new manager Roberto Mancini could look to let him go in the next transfer window. Louis van Gaal may well be interested given the state of his defence this term.

United target told he’s not leaving

Roma have told the Old Trafford club that star midfielder Kevin Strootman will not be leaving the team in January, according to Goal.com.

The Giallorossi’s general manager Mauro Baldissoni has told Sky Sports News, “We haven’t received any call from Manchester. We are not planning to sell Kevin. Kevin is young and he has a long contract. We definitely want to build our team around him.”

Manchester United and Real Madrid fight over German star

Louis van Gaal and Carlo Ancelotti are set to go head to head to try to sign World Cup winner Christoph Kramer, reports talkSPORT.

The German is valued at just £8 million, so price will not be a problem given both clubs’ budgets.

Chris Smalling injury news

United have suffered yet another defensive injury, with Chris Smalling being ruled out for two weeks by the Guardian.

The England international suffered a groin tear in the match against Southampton on Monday. He could be replaced by either an out of position Michael Carrick, or a returning Jonny Evans.

Former Red Devils coach blames van Gaal for injuries

Former assistant coach Mike Phelan has accused Louis van Gaal of causing the injury crisis at Old Trafford, reports the Daily Mail.

“They’ve brought in new people with a different way of doing things. The intensity of training may be one thing – it may be too intense, or not intense enough – but obviously slight changes have been made with the present way of doing things,” he told reporters.

“I would have thought the squad is big enough at Manchester United, because they can go out and get players in, but obviously they keep breaking down and they don’t seem to be getting any better. They seem to get one back and lose another two.”
