Mauro Icardi ‘Promised’ To Chelsea, Despite Liverpool Interest

Inter’s league form might be about to get even worse, as they consider selling their star striker.

Roberto Mancini has yet to win a game as Inter boss, and has decided that the best course of action is to sell his star player.

Mauro Icardi has been the one bright spot for Inter this year, scoring eight goals in 12 league games, despite Inter’s woes. According to TuttoSport, Mancini has decided to sell Icardi , along with midfielder Fredy Guarin, to raise money to refashion his side.

The Italian striker has been linked with English teams for some time, and TuttoSport allege that he’s ‘promised’ Mourinho his signature in the summer, but Liverpool and Tottenham are also apparently in the running. Those two have much more pressing needs up front than Chelsea, but neither have the Champions League football that might be needed to attract the hitman.

Another problem for Inter is their FFP standing, which is close to heading into the red. This could lead to financial penalties from UEFA, or even expulsion from European competition (not that Inter have to worry about that too much at the moment). Erick Thohir, the club’s new owner, hopes to reduce these worries by selling off some of the club’s most valuable assets.

While Icardi is not “on the market”, any good offer will be considered.
