2) Liverpool 3-3 Manchester United, 1994

With a young Ryan Giggs in sparkling form, United raced into a 3-0 lead at Anfield in an action-packed first half. However, in equally stunning fashion Liverpool then pegged them back late on, scoring another three to produce an incredible comeback and steal a point from Sir Alex Ferguson’s men.

3) Manchester United 2-1 Liverpool, 1999

In a classic FA Cup match between the two sides, it was United this time who produced an incredible late comeback. Michael Owen – who controversially went on to play for the Red Devils later on – gave Liverpool the lead at Old Trafford and looked set to hand them a win, but United struck twice in stoppage time to go through to the next round…something that would become something of a signature for them in the 1998/99 season.

4) Manchester United 1-4 Liverpool, 2009

A rare humbling at home for United, Liverpool were superb as they toar the Red Devils apart at Old Trafford towards the end of the 2008/09 season. Cristiano Ronaldo gave the home side the lead from the spot, but goals from Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard turned things around before half time. Late on, Fabio Aurellio and Andrea Dossena added two more to make it a surprise scoreline, though the Reds still missed out on their rivals to the Premier League title.

5) Liverpool 3-1 Manchester United, 2011

Another memorable win for Liverpool, this time at Anfield, saw cult hero Dirk Kuyt net a hat-trick against a United side who were flying high on their way to Premier League glory at the time. Luis Suarez was in fine form for the home team in this deserved victory.
