The Dutchman revealed this belief following the Mancunian club’s 3-0 victory over Liverpool. The win mean that they have beaten every one of the their last six opponents. They are currently eight points behind league leaders Chelsea, and five off second placed Manchester City.

When asked if he thought the Old Trafford club were in the race to be Premier League champions, the 63-year-old said,”Of course. We have won six matches in a row now and that’s fantastic.”

However, he did admit that the team would need to improves if they were were going to challenge throughout the season.

“But we have to improve our playing style still – and I say that nearly every week,” he continued. “We have to improve, but we’re very pleased because we know what it is to win against Liverpool. Everybody is happy. My cook is happy, my wife is happy and I’m happy!”

The Red Devils’ next two games are against Aston Villa and Newcastle United, meaning that their great run of wins could continue for the foreseeable future. This will only make the claims that they are in the title race louder.
