There were plenty of impressive individual performances, and some of those make up our most impressive Premier League XI of the week:

GK) David de Gea (Manchester United)

Perhaps the finest single individual performance of the weekend came from Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea, who made a string of wonderful saves to help his side overcome rivals Liverpool at Old Trafford.

RB) Hector Bellerin (Arsenal)

The youngster has been exposed defensively at times this season, but he was superb for Arsenal as they beat Newcastle United, both at the back and in terms of his raiding runs forward.

CB) Michael Carrick (Manchester United)

Was deployed out of position as a centre back in a three man defence, but stood as United’s best defender, both in terms of his positioning and calmness on the ball.

CB) Eliaquim Mangala (Manchester City)

Has received plenty of stick this season, but the big money man was at his imperious best and largely untroubled for 90 minutes against promoted Leicester City.

LB) Aaron Cresswell (West Ham United)

The former Ipswich Town man is having a fine season for West Ham and he was a constant threat during his side’s draw at Sunderland, providing some teasing crosses into the box.

RM) Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal)

He may not have got on the scoresheet this week, but Chilean international Alexis Sanchez was again a constant threat for Arsenal and laid on two for his teammates.

CM) Nemanja Matic (Chelsea)

His absence through suspension was keenly felt by Chelsea at St. James’ Park last week and the Belgian was back with a bang this time, shutting down Hull in the centre of the park.

CM) Santi Cazorla (Arsenal)

The Spaniard really stepped up as Arsenal’s main source of creativity as his side saw off Newcastle at the Emirates Stadium, scoring twice and laying on plenty of chances for others.

LM) Eden Hazard (Chelsea)

Hazard wasn’t actually at his destructive best as Chelsea beat Hull City at Stamford Bridge, but the fact that he was still one of the best players on the pitch, scored a goal and created one too gives an indication of his huge quality.

SC) Wilfried Bony (Swansea City)

Missed a couple of chances for Swansea that ended up costing them against Tottenham, but he ran the Spurs defence ragged, held the ball up and scored a fine goal. One of the best in the league.

SC) Olivier Giroud (Arsenal)

Giroud’s return from injury for Arsenal has proven to be a huge boost to Arsene Wenger and his side – the Frenchman led the line well and was rewarded with two neat goals.
