Here are the seven best goalkeeping performances of the Premier League era:

7) Joe Hart – Manchester City vs Tottenham – 2010/11

Hart was given a start in the first game of the season ahead of Shay Given, and showed exactly why with his performance.

The England No.1 made a string of fantastic saves, keeping Tottenham out and securing a 0-0 draw.

6) Alex McCarthey – Reading Vs Liverpool – 2012/13

The young shot-stopper was in unbelievable form when Liverpool made the trip to the Madejski Stadium, and seemed practically unbeatable.

He denied Luis Suarez, Steven Gerrard, and Philippe Coutinho, and secured a goalless draw to end Reading’s disastrous run of results.
5) Tim Krul – Newcastle United vs Tottenham – 2013/14

Newcastle managed to grab a 1-0 win against a dominant Tottenham side last season thanks to the heroics of Tim Krul.

He kept out all of Spurs’ 14 shots on target, with the Magpies securing the win totally against the run of play.
4) Peter Schmeichel – Manchester United vs Newcastle United – 1995/96

Newcastle needed the win against title rivals Manchester United in 1996, with the pressure rising as the season drew closer to a conclusion.

They were on a run of 13 consecutive home wins, but Peter Schmeichel made sure he put an end to that by keeping out everything that was thrown at him.

This game proved to be the definition of a six pointer, with Manchester United going on to win the title by just four points.
3) Adrian – West Ham vs Chelsea – 2013/14

In just his fifth league appearance for West Ham, Adrian was charged with keeping out a dangerous Chelsea outfit.

The keeper faced a total of 39 shots throughout the game, but Chelsea were unable to beat him.
2) David Marshall – Cardiff vs Liverpool – 2013/14

Marshall was a shining light for Cardiff during an abysmal season which saw them finish bottom of the pile. His performance against Tottenham in particular was phenomenal, and deserved far more than it got.

He showed fantastic reflexes and ability to keep the scores level until the dying moments, when Paulinho snatched a victory for the North London club.

1) Vito Mannone – Arsenal vs Fulham – 2009/10

The Italian keeper didn’t enjoy the best time at Arsenal, and despite a decent start he has now been dropped as Sunderland’s first choice shot-stopper. He did however, produce one absolutely immense display against Fulham; ensuring a 1-0 win for the Gunners.
