Find out who has beaten Mario Balotelli to a place in the Premier League’s list of ten under-performing strikers…

There aren’t many plus points to Mario Balotelli’s season. The £16m summer signing has yet to score in the league for Liverpool, but apparently it could be worse.

Football statistics website WhoScored have compiled a list of the ten statistically worst Premier League strikers so far this season. Click through the list below to find out who’s made the cut:

10) Roberto Soldado (Tottenham, 6.42)

The Spanish striker has struggled throughout his time at Tottenham, but did at least get off the mark for the league season against Everton a couple of weeks ago.

9) Carlton Cole (West Ham United, 6.41)

Little more than a back-up option at Upton Park, and with West Ham recently welcoming back Andy Carroll from injury, his chances are going to become few and far between.

8) Bobby Zamora (QPR, 6.39)

Did find the net against Everton on Monday, but has otherwise struggled to match the heights he hit during his time at Fulham. Is Zamora really still a Premier League quality striker?

7) Rickie Lambert (Liverpool, 6.34)

The former Southampton man has been called upon regularly in recent weeks, but has managed just two goals in the absence of injured duo Daniel Sturridge and Mario Balotelli. Doesn’t look cut out for Liverpool.

6) Sone Aluko (Hull City, 6.33)

Has found the net once this season, but has otherwise been ineffective in nine Premier League appearances. Needs to do more to earn a regular starting spot in the team.

5) Dwight Gayle (Crystal Palace, 6.26)

Has scored a couple of goals in eleven appearances this season, but has has gone missing too often, and has struggled to live up to expectations after a promising end to last season.

4) Bafetimbi Gomis (Swansea City, 6.26)

The Frenchman was expected to hit the ground running at Swansea, but has done anything but with just one league goal thus far – proving that Wilfried Bony is still very much the first choice striker.

3) Emmanuel Riviere (Newcastle United, 6.25)

One of Newcastle’s numerous summer signings, he has yet to score in nine Premier League appearances, despite the Magpies paying around £6m to Monaco for his services.

2) Jozy Altidore (Sunderland, 6.17)

The big American has continued to struggle in a side that naturally lacked goal. Sufficient to say that he has done very little to help that worrying situation at the Stadium of Light.

1) Marvin Sordell (Burnley, 6.04)

Burnley’s major summer signing, the former England hopeful has done little to influence Burnley’s fight for survival thus far, and could find himself out in the cold once Sam Vokes returns from injury.
