24) Anderson – With only one substitute appearance in the Premier League so far, it’s no surprise we’ve seen little of the Brazilian flop, who has lost his way in recent years.

23) Darren Fletcher – Another backup midfielder who has made minimal impact so far, it is a shame we haven’t seen the best of Darren Fletcher.

22) James Wilson – A promising young player who has been handed a number of chances, but who has so far not done a great deal with them.

21) Adnan Januzaj – Last season’s breakthrough performer, the Belgian teenager has not made quite the same impact so far this season.

20) Luke Shaw – A promising young left-back, but so far not one that looks worth the big money paid for him this summer.

19) Chris Smalling – Once regarded as a great prospect, Chris Smalling has had another up-and-down season and struggled to convince.

18) Phil Jones – A player in a similar boat to Smalling, Phil Jones has not progressed as hoped and hasn’t been on top form this season.

17) Radamel Falcao – A massively disappointing signing, the on-loan Colombian striker only has one goal and two assists so far after struggling with fitness and form.

16) Tyler Blackett – A promising young defender who has done reasonably well when called upon this season.

15) Paddy McNair – Another up-and-coming talent, the young Northern Irishman also looks a good prospect after some assured performances.

14) Rafael – After some disappointing form last season, the Brazilian right-back has looked better this season, though is still not always a guaranteed starter.

13) Jonny Evans – Solid at the back, Jonny Evans has had some injury troubles but performed well when called upon.

12) Ashley Young – Performing well in a new role at wing-back, Ashley Young has been surprisingly good for United this season.

11) Michael Carrick – A key midfielder, the experienced Michael Carrick has shown his value to this side since his return.

10) Daley Blind – A soid performer until injured, Daley Blind looks to have settled in well at Old Trafford.

9) Ander Herrera – One of many new signings, the Spaniard has looked a top talent despite recently falling out of favour in the side.

8) Antonio Valencia – Back to his best after some jittery form in the last few years, Antonio Valencia has really shone as a right wing-back.

7) Marcos Rojo – A good signing, the Argentine centre-back has been solid in defence and his form could prove crucial for the club.

6) Marouane Fellaini – Much improved this season, the Belgian is finally showing the form that saw him so highly regarded at previous club Everton.

5) Juan Mata – A consistent source of goals and assists, Juan Mata has been in fine form recently as he looks to establish himself as a key part of this side.

4) Angel Di Maria – A player who started incredibly brightly before fading, the Argentine still looks a class act and a great signing by the club.

3) Robin van Persie – Despite a slow start, the Dutchman has been a key figure in United’s recent revival and looks close to getting back to his best.

2) Wayne Rooney – A player reborn under Louis van Gaal, the England international has also relished his new role as captain at Old Trafford.

1) David de Gea – Unquestionably the team’s best performer this season, the Spanish goalkeeper has made some sensational match-winning saves on a number of occasions this season.
