It’s a dirty job, but someone’s got to do it.

10 football bad boys

24) Suso – It’s quite easy to forget that the Spanish playmaker is still on the books at Anfield – really hasn’t developed as hoped.

23) Brad Jones – Has come in for Simon Mignolet for the last two Liverpool games and was arguably at fault for three of the last four goals concede.

22) Fabio Borini – The Italian is a much better player than he has ever managed to show in the red shirt of Liverpool.

21) Jose Enrique – Looks a shadow of the player he was when he first arrived at Liverpool and his Anfield days are surely now numbered.

20) Mamadou Sakho – With Liverpool’s obvious issues at the back, it is a mystery why the French international has not been given more of a chance.

19) Javier Manquillo – Looks like a competent enough young right back, but not a player to shout from the rooftops about.

18) Dejan Lovren – Okay, he’s contributed some stuff, but how can we rate him any higher when so much of it has been bad?

17) Mario Balotelli – Has not been as bad as suggested in some of his performances, but it certainly hasn’t clicked for the former AC Milan star just yet.

16) Glen Johnson – Just doesn’t seem able to perform at Anfield any more, is for the best that he moves on as soon as possible.

15) Emre Can – Emre Can has shown the odd glimpse of ability since his summer signing from Bayer Leverkusen but has largely underwhelmed.

14) Kolo Toure – The experienced former Arsenal man has actually stepped into the defence on occasion and been a relatively calming presence.

13) Simon Mignolet – Isn’t as bad as a goalkeeper as some facets of the press would have us believe, but probably not up to scratch for a club with Liverpool’s ambition.

12) Lazar Markovic – The £20m summer buy from Benfica has offered plenty in his brief cameos and deserves to be given more of a sustained opportunity.

11) Adam Lallana – Has had his moments, but the £25m man needs to do more to justify his huge price tag.

10) Alberto Moreno – Of the club’s summer buys, Moreno looks like one of the better ones, but he has certainly made some errors as well.

9) Daniel Sturridge – It is an indication of how bad Liverpool’s season so far has been that we would rank Sturridge in ninth on the basis of about three performances at the start of the season.

8) Steven Gerrard – Has stepped up on occasion with a couple of crucial goals, but overall it is starting to feel as though Gerrard hinders as much as he helps.

7) Philippe Coutinho – The Brazilian is silky and, on his day, a glorious player to watch, but nowhere near consistent enough.

6) Joe Allen – You know what you’re going to get from the Welshman, it isn’t groundbreaking but he can be relied on.

5) Rickie Lambert – Has been treated badly by Rodgers considering the poor performances of his teammates – has shown that he can link play and score goals when given the chances.

4) Jordan Henderson – A slightly more impressive version of Allen, Henderson has not reached the heights of last season but gives his all.

3) Martin Skrtel – Slovakian international Skrtel is far from perfect as a defender, but his teammates at the back are making him look like it.

2) Lucas Leiva – Much maligned in recent seasons, Lucas has been excellent whenever called upon this season – particularly away at Real Madrid.

1) Raheem Sterling – Okay, so his performances have not been at the level of last season, but he is still comfortably the club’s biggest spark.
