Tottenham Hotspur will be aiming for a third win in six days this afternoon when they take on Burnley at White Hart Lane.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men will be high on confidence, having pinched a 2-1 win at Swansea City last weekend, before thrashing Newcastle United 4-0 in the Capital One Cup on Wednesday night.

Here’s the XI we expect Pochettino to start with against the Clarets:

GK: Hugo Lloris

Rested against Newcastle to give Michel Vorm some game time, but the Frenchman has not missed a Premier League game all season, so he’ll be back.

RB: Kyle Walker

Having not played a senior game since March due to injury, Walker featured in two games in four days last week. As a result, he was rightly given Wednesday night off, but he will almost definitely start against Burnley – making his long-awaited return to White Hart Lane.

LB: Ben Davies

Davies was another player who was given a rest against Newcastle, with Danny Rose coming in. Rose did OK, but Davies should start this one.

CBs: Jan Vertonghen and Federico Fazio

After a very unsettled start to Pochettino’s Spurs reign, it seems that the Argentine is finally beginning to understand what his best team is. Vertonghen and Fazio have formed a decent partnership at centre-half, so they should pair up for a third consecutive game.

CMs: Nabil Bentaleb and Ryan Mason

Like with his central defenders, Pochettino now appears to have decided who his best two central midfielders are. Bentaleb and Mason have started Tottenham’s last four Premier League matches.

AM: Erik Lamela

Lamela did not feature against Newcastle, despite looking incredibly enthusiastic in his warm-up exercises on the touchline. He has not has a very good season so far, but he does possess the skill and flair that could unlock Burnley’s defence.

AM: Harry Kane

Kane scored his 13th goal of the season against Newcastle. He played as a striker in that game, but he is likely to operate in the number 10 position against Burnley.

AM: Christian Eriksen

Not for the first time this season, Tottenham’s required a moment of late magic from Eriksen to get three points last weekend. The Dane also played in midweek, but he is fit as a flea, so he will be fine to start again.

ST: Roberto Soldado

Soldado found the net after coming off the bench against Newcastle. His confidence will have been boosted by that and he should start in attack, in front of a Tottenham crowd who seem to worship him despite his poor goalscoring form.
