First-half goals from Harry Kane and Erik Lamela – either side of an Ashley Barnes wonderstrike – gave Spurs the points which move them up to sixth place in the Premier League table.

Here’s how Mauricio Pochettino’s men rated:

GK: Hugo Lloris – 7/10

It took a wonderstrike to beat him.

RB: Kyle Walker – 6/10

Untroubled defensively, but rather underwhelming going forward.

CB: Federico Fazio – 5.5/10

Did some very good defending in patches, but his overall lack of speed is still a big worry. He got outpaced by Danny Ings, but, fortunately for Spurs, Lloris came to the rescue.

CB: Jan Vertonghen – 6.5/10

Solid throughout and looked really comfortable in possession, even with Burnley playing a very busy high press.

LB: Ben Davies – 6.5/10

Picked up a yellow card on two minutes for a late tackle on George Boyd. Did well after that poor start, though.

CM: Ryan Mason – 7/10

One of the best players on the pitch in the first half. He was taken off just before the break with an injury. Tottenham missed him.

CM: Nabil Bentaleb – 7/10

Another classy and dominant display from the Algerian, who is becoming the player that the under-motivated Mousa Dembele should be.

AM: Erik Lamela – 7.5/10

Looked confident right from the word go, but that confidence grew after he cut inside from the right and bent a brilliant long shot into the net to score his first ever Premier League goal. His link-up play was excellent and he constantly wanted the ball.

AM: Christian Eriksen – 6.5/10

Did alright, but not as well as he should have, considering that Harry Kane had been pushed forward from his preferred number 10 position to accommodate the Dane in his favourite slot.

AM: Nacer Chadli – 6.5/10

Had a nice goal ruled out for a correct – but only just – offside decision. Chadli also supplied the cross which resulted in Kane’s goal.

ST: Harry Kane – 7/10

Impressive again, but he is not as effective up front as he is just behind the main striker. Kane took his goal well, but he also missed a sitter.

Subs:

Benjamin Stambouli – 6/10

Played close to Bentaleb, making Tottenham harder to break down. However, he was far less effective that Mason in an attacking sense.

Roberto Soldado – 5/10

Barely touched the ball during his 10-minute cameo.

Danny Rose – n/a

Was on the pitch for just a matter of seconds, having replaced Eriksen deep in stoppage time.
