The Red Devils spent around £156m on new signings during the summer, and are ready to continue splashing the cash when the transfer window re-opens this winter.

Although the club has made real progress under Louis van Gaal, it seems the Dutchman is still not content with some of his options and wants to bring in this £80m trio to help put his team back in with a shout of challenging the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City for the Premier League title.

1) Kevin Strootman (AS Roma)

Firstly, United are hoping to beat Chelsea to the signing of AS Roma star Kevin Strootman, who has long been linked as a top target for the Red Devils since van Gaal took over in the summer. The Dutchman is expected to cost around £30m.

2) Enzo Perez (Benfica)

Second on United’s list in the central midfield department is Benfica’s Argentine box-to-box player Enzo Perez, who has also attracted plenty of interest from the Red Devils this season as a January move looks likely.

3) Nicolas Gaitan (Benfica)

In a double swoop on the Portuguese giants and an £80m triple deal overall, Nicolas Gaitan is also a top United target this winter as the club look to strengthen out wide, with Gaitan surely an improvement on the likes of Antonio Valencia and Adnan Januzaj in that position.
