The African Cup of Nations kicks off in Equatorial Guinea next month and, with holders Nigeria shockingly having failed to qualify for the tournament, it could well be a wide open spectacle, with fans just happy to be getting down to the football after the farcial situation of Morocco pulling out as hosts.

Courtesy of the Mirror we can bring you a definite list of the Premier League players likely to be involved and have ranked the 13 Premier League clubs with players flying out by the number of those set to be missing for up to seven games:

=3) Everton (One Player)

Everton are set to be missing on loan Chelsea winger Christian Atsu, who is likely to be involved with Ghana at the tournament.

=3) Hull City (One Player)

Hull City have been in awful form in the Premier League recently and will be missing Senegalese international midfielder Mohamed Diame for the duration of their stay in the tournament.

=3) Liverpool (One Player)

Kolo Toure may well be in entering into the twilight years of his career, but the evergreen Liverpool man is still an important player for the Ivory Coast.

=3) Manchester City (One Player)

Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure is arguably the star player of the entire tournament – he will be a big miss for the Premier League champions whilst away with tournament favourites Ivory Coast.

=3) Stoke City (One Player)

Another Premier League star set to be involved with Senegal at the tournament is Stoke City striker Mame Biram Diouf.

=3) Swansea City (One Player)

Swansea City may only be missing one player for the tournament, but it is their best player, with striker Wilfried Bony set to lead the line for Ivory Coast.

=3) Tottenham Hotspur (One Player)

Young midfielder Nabil Bentaleb has been impressive for Tottenham Hotspur in recent weeks, but his White Hart Lane progress will be stunted by a spell away with Algeria.

=3) West Bromwich Albion (One Player)

West Brom will be missing powerful central midfielder Youssuf Mulumbu as he features for DR Congo at the tournament.

=2) Crystal Palace (Two Players)

Crystal Palace should be able to cope with the loss of Algerian midfielder Adelene Guediora, but the departure of tricky winger Yannick Bolasie, of DR Congo, will be felt far harder.

=2) Leicester City (Two Players)

Bottom club Leicester City could do with all hands to the pump, so missing out on Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez and Ghanaian full back Jeffrey Schlupp will be a blow to Nigel Pearson.

=2) Southampton (Two Players)

The lack of depth that Ronald Koeman has in his Southampton squad is well documented – and he will be without Zambian striker Emmanuel Mayuka and Senegalese winger Sadio Mane during the competition.

=1) Newcastle United (Three Players)

Newcastle United will be without a joint high three players for the duration of the African Cup of Nations, with Senegalese striker Papiss Cisse, Algerian midfielder Mehdi Abeid and Ivorian destroyer Cheick Tiote all set to be on the plane.

=1) West Ham United (Three Players)

Sam Allardyce’s West Ham will arguably the worst hit Premier League team, however, with three key players set to be involved. Midfielder Alex Song will star for Cameroon, whilst both Cheikhou Kouyate and Diafra Sakho play for Senegal.
