Saido Berahino ready to leave West Bromwich Albion with Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur closing in

It is looking increasingly likely that Berahino will be leaving the Hawthorns in the January transfer window as contract negotiations stall.

According to talkSPORT the 21-year-old has halted talks over a new deal and the Reds and Spurs are getting ready to pounce.

West Brom manager Alan Irvine has left Berahino out of his past three starting XIs as it looks as if he is preparing for life without the striker.

Martin Skrtel thinks his team have turned a corner and are improving

Despite results still not really going Brendan Rodgers’ way, Skrtel thinks that the past three games have shown things are getting better at Anfield.

The 30-year-old scored a vital 97th minute equaliser against Arsenal in the 2-2 Premier League draw on Sunday and thinks his team have now turned a corner and form will improve.

“In the last three games against United, Bournemouth and Arsenal we have shown great performances and we need to keep going this way and it will be good for us and results will be better,” Skrtel was quoted by the Guardian.

Chelsea forward Fernando Torres set for shock Anfield return

With AC Milan getting ready to axe Torres’ two-year loan deal at the San Siro a full 18 months early, the future of the Spaniard remains in doubt.

Jose Mourinho has already admitted he does not want the 30-year-old back at Stamford Bridge, but two of the attacker’s former sides could be interested.

According to the Metro, Atletico Madrid and the Merseysiders will go head-to-head to try and secure Torres’ signature.

Rodgers pleased that pressure and intensity is back in the side

The Northern Irishman was also pleased with the performance of his team at the weekend, despite the fact Skrtel had to rescue a late point.

Rodgers thinks the way the Merseyside outfit played was a great improvement and is positive about things going forward.

“Some of our play in the first half – the movement and passing, but more importantly the pressure and intensity – really rewound us back to what we have been for a couple of years and what has been missing for a big part of this season,” the 41-year-old told the club’s website.

Skrtel reveals the extent of his head injury

Before becoming the hero on Sunday with his goal against the Gunners, there was doubt as to whether the defender could carry on after suffering a nasty head injury.

After a tussle with Olivier Giroud the striker accidentally stood on Skrtel as he fell to the floor and the Slovakian has revealed the extent of the damage on his Instagram account.
