10) Aston Villa, fouled 10.7 times a match

The midlands club have been having another tough year in the Premier League, and won’t have had their fluency helped by teams being aggressive towards them.

9) Queens Park Rangers, fouled 10.9 times a match

The R’s have had brilliant home form, but maybe it is teams getting up and at them away from home that has caused their inability to gain points away from Loftus Road.

8) Manchester United, fouled 11 times a match

Louis van Gaal’s side failed to win for the first time in six matches on the weekend. This run might have been helped by referees not being afraid to blow the whistle during their matches.

7) West Ham, fouled 11.4 times a match

Sam Allardyce’s teams are usually known for the physical approach they take, and it would seem that sides have reciprocated when playing them.

6) Newcastle United, fouled 11.8 times a match

The Magpies have dropped off slightly after a run of victories had taken them in to the top six. Teams reacting by playing aggressively won’t have helped.

5) Swansea City, fouled 11.9 times a match

The Welsh side have a number of quick, skillful players who will always draw fouls from opposition teams.

4) Arsenal, fouled 12 times a match

It has long been a common idea that the Gunners don’t like it when teams get in their faces, and the effect that tactic has is shown here.

=2) Sunderland, fouled 12.6 times a match

The Black Cats may have Lee Cattermole in their ranks, but they take it as well as give it out.

=2) Liverpool, fouled 12.6 times a match

Brendan Rodgers side have one of the smaller midfields in the league, and that is probably part of the reason why they draw so many fouls from other teams.

1) Everton, fouled 12.8 times a match

Whether it is due to the players going down easily or other teams being rough with them who knows? But either way the Toffees flowing, passing style can not be helped by the constant stoppages.
