Arsenal Predicted XI For QPR Boxing Day Matchup: Chambers To Be Rested With Theo Walcott Set To Start

How CaughtOffside believes the Gunners will line up in this London derby.

Arsene Wenger will be looking to finish the year with a series of good results with the first of the Gunners festive fixtures coming at home to Queens Park Rangers.

Following their late collapse to Liverpool we can expect some slight changes to the Gunners starting XI but injuries prevent a full scale turnaround.

GK) Wojciech Szczesny
Szczesny looks to be getting back to his best following injury and Arsenal’s number one will again start in between the sticks.

RB) Hector Bellerin
With Arsene Wenger revealing Chambers is feeling the effects of his first season as a regular squad player you can expect Hector Bellerin to make an appearance in defence.

CB) Mathieu Debuchy

A couple of impressive and sturdy performances for Debuchy despite being placed in an alien position, due to the Chambers situation and Koscielny being short of fitness expect him to remain in central defence.

CB) Per Mertesacker

He may have come under fire for his part in Liverpool’s late equaliser but Mertesacker will again be forced to play despite his poor form with the Gunners lack of defenders coming back to bite them.

LB) Kieran Gibbs

Will be preferred to Nacho Monreal once again.

CM) Mathieu Flamini

Another player to come under criticism against Liverpool but with other midfield options lacking and Arteta suffering an injury setback Flamini will remain in midfield for the foreseeable future.

RM) Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Has been in great form in recent weeks but was struggling for fitness against Liverpool and should be back to his best against QPR.

LM) Santi Cazorla

His resurgence in form will see him remain on the left side of midfield.

LW) Alexis Sanchez

Sanchez has slowed down in recent weeks after his blistering start to life in England and will most likely be rested after this match due to a lack of winter break.

ST) Olivier Giroud

He’s been a revelation since his return and will look to add to his strong home scoring record on Boxing day.

RW) Theo Walcott

With a quiet performance from Welbeck against Liverpool and Walcott unable to come on due to a hampering injury, the English winger may get the nod over Welbeck and given his chance now he’s back to full fitness.
