Report Names Seven Liverpool Targets Worth Over £100m: Real Madrid Star Included

Seven players Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers will be looking to bring to Anfield in January…

Liverpool have been struggling under Brendan Rodgers this season, and the loss of Luis Suarez to Barcelona has had a devastating impact on the team.

The Merseyside manager spent a massive £113m over the summer, but with his signings failing to shine in the Premier League he will almost certainly have to dip into the market again in January.

Here are seven players Rodgers will be looking to spend on this winter, according to the Express:

7) Martin Montoya – Barcelona

The Barcelona star has been heavily linked with a move away from the Nou Camp in January, although Liverpool’s lack of Champions League football may prove a problem.

6) Victor Valdes – Free Agent

The former Barcelona star has been training with Manchester United this campaign after leaving La Liga at the end of last season, but is available for free and could prove to be a fantastic replacement for the struggling Simon Mignolet.

5) Virgil van Dijk – Celtic

The Dutchman has been tipped to leave Scotland either in January or at the end of the season, but yet again his Champions League ambitions could prove a stumbling block for Rodgers.

Dejan Lovren has been an unmitigated disaster since his £20m move from Southampton over the summer, and something certainly needs to be done to remedy Liverpool’s defensive problems.

4) Guillermo Ochoa – Malaga

Another possible replacement for Mignolet is £3m rated Ochoa. The Mexican star only moved to Malaga on a free transfer this past summer, but having found himself playing second fiddle to Carlos Kameni he is thought to be looking for an exit already.

3) Nathaniel Clyne – Southampton

Although Rodgers hasn’t had a huge amount of success with his Southampton acquisitions so far, he may be tempted to splash the cash on Clyne.

The promising young full-back looks like a star of the future, and has really upped his game this season.

2) Seydou Doumbia – CSKA Moscow

With Mario Balotelli struggling to fit in at Anfield and Daniel Sturridge spending most of the season on the sidelines, the manager may be looking to bring attacking reinforcements to the club as well.

Ivorian forward Doumbia could be a a fantastic option if they can prise him away, and would provide the real goal threat that Liverpool have been missing this season.

1) Karim Benzema – Real Madrid

Liverpool have also been linked with a shock £50m move for Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema. The La Liga giants are unlikely to want to sell in January, but if Brendan Rodgers could pull it off it would give his side a massive boost.
