The Belgian international was introduced midway through the first half of the club’s Boxing Day victory over Burnley after Brad Jones was forced off with a thigh injury.

And despite a few now characteristic wobbles manager Brendan Rodgers revealed that he was happy with his performance and may bring him back into the side.

“I thought he did well,” said the Liverpool boss.

“He came for a couple of crosses really well, caught one and punched one, didn’t have a great deal to do, kicking was good.

“He’s worked hard since he’s come out of the team and now he’s come on and kept a clean sheet and that was important for us.”
