10. Cesar Azpilicueta, Chelsea

Over the past 18 months this Spaniard has gone from bit-part defender to arguably one of the best and most versatile full-backs in world football.

9. Wilfried Bony, Swansea City

With more goals in 2014 than any other player this Ivory Coast international has been a real talisman for the Swans as they continue to grow under Garry Monk.

8. Pablo Zabaleta, Manchester City

Strong going forward and in defence this Argentina international is a right-back who has thrived in the modern game and has played a big part in the Citizens’ success since joining in 2008.

7. David Silva, Manchester City

Another City star now and a player who’s contribution often goes unnoticed, but in reality Silva is one of the best – if not the best – playmaker in the entire division.

6. David de Gea, Manchester United

Sky Sports pundit and Red Devils legend Gary Neville named this goalkeeper as his best player of the year just to show how much of an impact de Gea has had on his team’s fortunes in the past 12 months.

5. Raheem Sterling, Liverpool

Things may have been a little quieter for Sterling this term, but the 20-year-old is continuing to prove his class and versatility with the capability to play on the wing, as a N0.10, or even as a striker.

4. Nemanja Matic, Chelsea

Re-signed by the Blues in January from Benfica this defensive midfielder has immediately slotted back into life in West London and remains a key part of their starting XI.

3. Yaya Toure, Manchester City

Has started to find form again after a quiet start to the current campaign, but last term Toure was in superb touch and his 20 league goals were a key part of the success Manuel Pellegrini’s side enjoyed.

2. Eden Hazard, Chelsea

Others around him often steal the limelight more, but there are few more consistently excellent than this Belgium international and Hazard could well win the PFA Player of the Year award this year.

1. Sergio Aguero, Manchester City

Yet top of the pile is a forward who has played such a key part in his team’s success despite being perennially injured and Aguero’s scoring record is second to none in terms of goals to game ratio.
