So here are five likely options for the Gunners in the middle of the park according to talkSPORT.

Yohan Cabaye, Paris Saint-Germain

Has struggled to settle at PSG following a January move and would certainly be able to fill in admirably in the absence of Aaron Ramsey or Jack Wilshere, but perhaps a more defensive mind is needed.

William Carvalho, Sporting Lisbon

A more combative option now and a Portugal international who has been impressing in the Primeira Liga and has also been touted by Manchester United in the past, with a £20m price-tag on the 22-year-old’s head.

Maxime Gonalons, Olympique Lyon

A long-term target for the North Londoners and an attractive option due to Gonalons’ ability to play in central midfield and at the back, but whether Lyon will be convinced to sell is a different matter.

Grzegorz Krychowiak, Sevilla

Only signed by his current club from Reims over the summer for £3.5m, it would cost a lot more to prise the Poland international away now with Wenger a keen admirer of the 24-year-old defensive midfielder.

Moussa Sissoko, Newcastle United

Like Cabaye has plenty of Premier League experience and has long been likened to fellow countryman and Gunners legend Patrick Vieira, meaning the North London club should perhaps pay his £16m asking price.
