Liverpool Predicted Line-Up v Leicester City: Steven Gerrard And Kolo Toure Return

Liverpool predicted line-up for Thursday’s clash with Leicester City…

Liverpool go into their game with Leicester fresh off the back of arguably their best performance of the season – which saw them beat Swansea City 4-1 on Monday night – and will be looking to continuing that trend against the Premier League’s bottom club.

Liverpool will be without suspended defender Martin Skrtel, with Kolo Toure expected to be drafted in as his replacement. Captain Steven Gerrard is expected to return in midfield after being rested against Swansea.

Here is how we think the Reds will line-up:

GK) Simon Mignolet

With Brad Jones still sidelined, Rodgers has little option but to start with Mignolet. Will Liverpool recruit a replacement in the transfer window?

RCB) Emre Can

Might well have found a new home at centre back after his impressive performance against Swansea. Looks strong, calm and self assured – a welcome change.

CB) Kolo Toure

Received a well deserved rest against Swansea on Monday, but will return to the team in the absence of Martin Skrtel through suspension.

LCB) Mamadou Sakho

Has looked decent since his inclusion back in the Liverpool team, and will want to make the left sided defensive spot his own before Dejan Lovren’s return.

DM) Steven Gerrard

Will come back into the team. We think Lucas will be the man to miss out, or rather, earn a rest. Gerrard will revert to the holding role he made his own last season, and play alongside Henderson.

RWB) Javier Manquillo

If Henderson does indeed continue centrally, Manquillo will have little competition for his spot in the team, with Glen Johnson and Jon Flanagan both still out.

LWB) Alberto Moreno

Impressed against Swansea, getting forward well and netting the opening goal. Deserves an extended run in the team after being frustrated in recent weeks.

CM) Jordan Henderson

Back to somewhere near his best on Monday, but needs to maintain that sort of form if he is to keep his role as the pivot in Liverpool’s four-man midfield.

AM) Adam Lallana

Another man who enjoyed his best performance of the season on Monday, the £25m summer signing will be eager to keep that form going against Leicester, against whom he scored last time out.

AM) Philippe Coutinho

Has been arguably Liverpool’s best player in terms of consistency over the last month, and would like to start 2015 well, ideally with a goal or two.

ST) Raheem Sterling

Was lucky to escape a red card for lashing out during the Swansea game, but got away with it and will be unlikely to miss out on the team as a result.
