The Next Galactico: Five Contenders For Real Madrid’s Next Big Money Buy, Including Chelsea and Man United Stars

Who is the next huge player signed by Real Madrid going to be?

There are few givens in football – but one of the certainties seems to be that La Liga giants Real Madrid will make at least one huge signing each summer – with Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez the latest two to make the move to the Bernabeu for huge fees during the summer transfer window.

Whether it happens in January or, more likely, the summer window – here are five realistic contenders for the next big money Real buy:

David de Gea (Manchester United)

Real Madrid have never needed to be profligate on signing a goalkeeper due to the seemingly ever-lasting presence of Iker Casillas – but he is unlikely to be between the Bernabeu goalposts for much longer. Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is the obvious huge signing for Real Madrid in that position, but it would certainly cost a Galactico fee to tempt United into selling.

Radamel Falcao (AS Monaco/Manchester United)

With recent reports having suggested that Manchester United would delay the decision on signing Radamel Falcao permanently until the end of the season, the door could once again be reopening when it comes to a potential move to the Bernabeu. It was one of the biggest rumours of the summer and, purportedly, Falcao’s dream destination – and could be back on if United decide not to press ahead with a permanent deal.

Eden Hazard (Chelsea)

As the months go past without Eden Hazard putting pen to paper on a new contract at Stamford Bridge, the noises linking him with a move to Real Madrid grow louder. The Belgian certainly has the wow factor needed to be a traditional Galactico – but the sheer number of players that Real have at their disposal in the wide positions could prove to be a stumbling block.

Yaya Toure (Manchester City)

Another player who seems to be perpetually linked with a move away from his current club is Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure, who is generally linked with French giants Paris Saint Germain. His physicality and drive would certainly add something extra to Real’s midfield, however – although his past links with Barcelona could prove to be an issue.

Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund)

Perhaps the most realistic name on this list, Borussia Dortmund forward Marco Reus certainly seems likely to be moving on from Signal Iduna Park in the near future. Dynamic and skillful, Reus is perhaps not a big enough name to pick up the Galactico tag – but he certainly has the ability to grow into his potential new label.
