GK) David De Gea, 7

The keeper didn’t have much to do, despite periods of Yeovil pressure. He will be happy to have not made any mistakes when called upon.

RWB) Rafael, 5

Taken off at half time in part due to a change of system, but his first half performance will not have helped the situation.

LWB) Luke Shaw, 5

Similar situation to Rafael, Shaw is beginning to look very expensive at £31 million.

CB) Tyler Blackett, 6

Shifted to left-back part way through the match, and was okay during the times when Yeovil pushed for an equaliser.

CB) Chris Smalling, 5

Didn’t look totally at ease against what were League One attackers, but will be happy with the clean sheet.

CB) Paddy McNair, 6

The youngster moved to right-back at half time, and will be satisfied with his performance, although it was not spectacular.

CM) Ander Herrera, 7

Scored a great goal, but except from that did little. Did not provide the incisive passing needed to cut the lower league side open.

CM) Darren Fletcher, 5

The Scot does not look the same player since his long break from the game, and can not play like this in the Premier League and get away with it.

CAM) Wayne Rooney, 6

Was not the orchestrator of attacks that some would have hoped him to be, but is still getting used to playing regularly in a deeper role.

ST) Radamel Falcao, 5

Didn’t get on the score sheet, which he will be disappointed with playing against such weak opposition.

ST) James Wilson, 6

Nothing amazing from the young prospect, but did get what would have been some valuable game time for his development.

SUB) Angel Di Maria, 8

Looked good when he came on, but then you would expect that from a £59.7 million player. Took his goal well.

SUB) Juan Mata, 8

Made a difference after getting on the pitch for the second half. Will be hoping to be starting again when the Premier League restarts.

SUB) Jonny Evans, 6

Solid from the defender, coming on to take the place of the disappointing Luke Shaw.
