Today, Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo linked Lionel Messi with a monstrous move to Barcelona in the summer of 2016, and Paul Pogba has recently been linked as a similarly blockbuster transfer target…

Assuming some of the older players will have moved on, and some younger stars will have reached their primes, here’s how the Parisians could line up in 2016 if they secured these world-class stars – along with current Chelsea stopper!

GK) Petr Cech

Will leave Chelsea in the summer, and PSG are one of the few elite clubs who could tempt him to join.

DR) Serge Aurier

The young Ivorian is immensely talented, and will have surely nailed down a spot in the side by 2016.

DL) Lucas Digne

Like Aurier, the excellent young fullback could be one of the very best in 18 months’ time.

DC) Thiago Silva

The Brazilian skippers the side, and is one of the world’s very best central defenders.

DC) David Luiz

The world’s most expensive defender will surely be in France until near the end of his career.

DMC) Marco Verratti

The little Italian dictates PSG’s tempo, and could definitely play the deepest role in midfield with Thiago Motta likely to have moved on by then.

MC) Paul Pogba

Linked with a mega-money move back to his homeland from Juventus. At PSG, he could establish himself as the world’s best central midfielder.

MC) Blaise Matuidi

Matuidi could be in the side still at this point, but don’t be surprised if somebody else is, either.

AMR) Edinson Cavani

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be approaching 36 by 2016, and probably no longer at his peak… Cavani’s price-tag means he could stay with PSG until the latter stages of his career, and he’s more than capable of doing a job from either the right or centrally. If Messi arrives though, he knows he’ll have to start from the wing.

AML) Lucas Moura

Moura will be in his prime in 2016, aged 24. He’s sensationally talented, and could form part the most exciting front three in world football.

FC) Lionel Messi

Financially, only PSG, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City could afford the Argentine, who’ll break practically all footballing individual records before he retires. Apparently he’ll cost £164m, but a large amount of this would be made back through commercial revenue.
