Here are the top 10 most valuable young players in the game (21-years-old or younger) based on these statistics.

10=. Raphael Varane, Real Madrid – 21

Value: £18m.

Struggling to truly assert himself at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu currently, but as a starter for club and country this centre-back is certainly a real asset.

10=. Marquinhos, Paris Saint-Germain – 20

Value: £18m.

Signed by PSG for £30.1m from AS Roma in the summer of 2013, so the Ligue 1 champions might be disappointed to see his stock fall so rapidly.

10=. Calum Chambers, Arsenal – 19

Value: £18m.

The Gunners spent £16m on this Southampton youth product over the summer and will therefore be pleased to see he is already worth a little more.

9. Julian Draxler, Schalke 04 – 21

Value: £18.8m.

Has been touted by several top sides and has been a stalwart in the Schalke first team for some time, but this valuation is some way off his £37m release clause.

8. Adnan Januzaj, Manchester United – 19

Value: £19.6m.

Burst onto the scene for the Red Devils with a match-winning brace against Sunderland last season, but has fallen out of favour more in recent times.

7. Luke Shaw, Manchester United – 19

Value: £20.4m.

Another star of Old Trafford now with this teenager costing United £27m over the summer and is yet to live up to that price-tag.

6. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Arsenal – 21

Value: £22.7m.

Th third Englishman on the list so far and a player who is such a mainstay for club and country it’s easy to forget how young Oxlade-Chamberlain still is.

5. Mateo Kovacic, Inter Milan – 20

Value: £25m.

Signed by Inter in 2013 and has since established himself in their first team and looks to be a really impressive prospect for the future.

4. Ross Barkley, Everton – 21

Value: £25.8m.

Another England international now and someone who isn’t expected to be with the Toffees for much longer if their woeful Premier League form continues.

3. Romelu Lukaku, Everton – 21

Value: £29.7m.

Staying at Goodison Park and according to this report the Merseysiders have the third and fourth most valuable players in world football, with Lukaku costing them a club record £28m over the summer.

2. Raheem Sterling, Liverpool – 20

Value: £49.3m.

A big jump up now and with Sterling having just won the Golden Boy award it’s perhaps easy to see why – especially when the forward has only just turned 20-years-old as well.

1. Paul Pogba, Juventus – 21

Value: £56.4m.

Yet leading the way it is little surprise to find Pogba, who is not only considered one of the best youngsters in the world but one of the best players full stop.
