10) Jermain Defoe (FC Toronto to Liverpool)

Everyone knows that Liverpool have struggled for goals this season, but surely this isn’t the answer? Well, according to the Daily Telegraph it is.

9) Julian Draxler (Schalke to Manchester City)

Draxler refused to give up Schalke for Arsenal last year, and it seems unlikely City would break the bank to land him in 2015, despite the suggestions of the Daily Star.

8) Seamus Coleman (Everton to Manchester United)

Everton have been interested in Seamus Coleman since Sir Alex Ferguson, but Everton have always stuck to their guns, and despite the suggestions of the Guardian, this one seems unlikely.

7) Xherdan Shaqiri (Bayern Munich to Liverpool)

The rumours surrounding Shaqiri to Liverpool have refused to go away, thanks mainly to stories like these from the Metro. However, everything other than papers points towards this one not happening.

6) Ross Barkley (Everton to Manchester City)

City do have money to spend in January, but surely with FFP in place, they couldn’t meet the prices being suggested in the Mail on Sunday, not when a striker is a far more pressing need.

5) Paul Pogba (Juventus to Manchester United)

The former Man United academy graduate is a star player at Juve, and is unlikely to favour a return to Old Trafford – as suggest by the Daily Star. A move to Chelsea or Man City is perhaps slightly more likely.

4) Gareth Bale (Real Madrid to Chelsea or Manchester United)

The Daily Express has finally admitted defeat in its attempts to drive Gareth Bale to Old Trafford. But was this one ever going to happen? The success he has enjoyed so far in Spain suggests not.

3) Sergio Busquets (Barcelona to Arsenal, Chelsea or Manchester United)

The Daily Star claimed that three Premier League sides were chasing the Barcelona midfielder, but a move to England seems unlikely for a player that has spent his entire senior career with the Catalans.

2) Raphael Varane (Real Madrid to Chelsea or Manchester United)

The Daily Express meanwhile thinks Chelsea or Man United could swoop for another prize asset of a Spanish giant. Varane promises to be one of the best defenders in Europe, and its hard to see Madrid selling.

1) Lionel Messi (Barcelona to Paris Saint Germain)

French media source L’Equipe is our winner, for their suggestions that PSG have not yet given up hope on a £164m move for Barcelona’s Lionel Messi. Forgive us for being slightly sceptical about that one.
