Spanish journalist Guillem Balague reckons that Lionel Messi could be on his way out of Barcelona, he told Sky Sports.

Here are five clubs that could sign the four time Ballon d’Or winner, if Balague’s prediction comes true.

Chelsea

Could Messi follow former Barcelona teammate and childhood friend Cesc Fabregas to Stamford Bridge?

After following Chelsea on Instagram, Messi dropped a huge hint that he could be moving to the Premier League with joint league leaders Chelsea.

The Blues have recently made contact with the Argentine captain’s father, according to the Express, with the hope that Messi’s father could influence his son’s decision.

Blues owner Roman Abramovich certainly has the financial capability to pull off such an astonishing move, especially with the recent selling of former Stamford Bridge favourites David Luiz to PSG and Juan Mata to Manchester United. However, Financial Fair Play rules could make the move near impossible with Mourinho stating only last month that there is ‘no chance‘ the West London outfit could pull the signing off. Chelsea fans will be hoping otherwise.

Manchester United

Manchester United’s world-class forwards that Messi could line-up with.

After disruption at Old Trafford following the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson with the subsequent weak 2013/14 season under David Moyes resulting in his early sacking, Manchester United’s global brand has taken a battering.

The signing of a superstar in world football, such as Lionel Messi, would do much to reignite their brand – not just their football. And they’ve proven with the acquisition of Angel di Maria that they’re happy to break the bank.

Manchester City

Close friends Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero on international duty.

Lionel Messi has been linked with Manchester City on more than one occasion, and Argentina teammates Sergio Aguero and Pablo Zabaleta and Manchester City stars could encourage the three time best player in the world to a move to England.

Zabaleta has already claimed that Messi is a Manchester City fan, fuelling speculation that a move to the blue side of Manchester is possible.

Paris Saint-Germain

Messi could team up with Swedish ace Zlatan Ibrahmovic.

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Javier Pastore has recently claimed that the Ligue 1 champions ‘can easily afford Messi‘ if the striker decides his time is up at the Camp Nou.

In December reports suggested that PSG were planning a £210m bid for the Barcelona star, however a formal offer is yet to be put forward.

Bayern München

A reunion with former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola?

Former Catalan boss Pep Guardiola has been widely regarded as the key man in helping Messi to become a Barcelona star and one of the best players in world football.

A reunion with Guardiola could be exactly what Messi needs to start enjoying his football once more.
