The Daily Star sites Swiss newspaper Blick in claiming the Bayern Munich forward is on the verge of joining the Reds in a £10 million move.

Shaqiri has been touted with a move to a number of clubs in the run-up to the January window but he’s repeatedly been linked with Anfield and the Merseyside club finally looks to have got their man.

Manchester United and Arsenal were both also said to be in for the Swiss international who only signed for Pep Guardiola’s side in 2012 but has yet to live up to his obvious potential in Munich.

However, Blick claim Liverpool have pipped their Premier League rivals to the tricky forward’s signature and in doing so have acquired one of Europe’s most coveted midfielders.

The signing could be seen as something of a gamble with Shaqiri’s inconsistent display for the Germany giants proving a cause for concern, however with Brendan Rodgers’ track record of promoting unrelinquished talents Liverpool could have captured a potentially World Class bargain.
