5. Sunderland

Games: 20
Goals: 18
Points per goal: 1.11

The Black Cats have garnered themselves a decent quota of points despite not being able to put together any real form so far. They are very much in the mix for relegation, but considering they’ve only found the back of the net 18 times they have given themselves a good chance at survival by keeping their head above water at the halfway point.

4. Swansea City

Games: 20
Goals: 25
Points per goal: 1.16

The Swans have been in fantastic form this season, but despite having the likes of Bony, Gomis, Sigurdsson and Dyer, they’ve not hit the net as many times as would be expected of them. However, they have utilised what they do have effectively when it comes to collecting points and they currently sit pretty ninth.

3. Tottenham Hotspur

Games: 20
Goals: 29
Points per goal: 1.17

Spurs’ season has effectively been saved by the emergence of Harry Kane. With Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado failing to fulfil their duties as strikers, the club are lucky to have found the net 29 times so far this term.

2. Stoke City

Games: 20
Goals: 24
Points per goal: 1.18

Stoke have not been as prolific as many imagined they would be this season despite adding the likes of Bojan and Mame Biram Diouf to their ranks over the summer.

1. Aston Villa

Games: 20
Goals: 11
Points per goal: 2.00

Villa have bizarrely been unable to tap into any sort of goalscoring form this season despite regularly starting games with three strikers in most of their encounters this season. Somehow, though, they find themselves in 12th place – higher than Everton, who have scored 29 – and Christian Benteke’s recent return from injury has only yielded three goals.
